Castle Pass Field Trip and Native American Ceremony

Annual Grouse Ridge Trek: This year we have moved to the Castle Peak area. at Castle Pass Meadow we will participate in a Native American Ceremony and Prayers for the healing of the planet. This will be followed by a short wilderness discussion led by Don Rivenes and lunch. Afterwards, we will hike across the meadow and join the Pacific Crest Trail up to Castle Pass, climbing a short way towards Castle Peak for views of the Sierra. Suggested donation is $10.

For carpooling: meet at the Rood Center on Hwy 49 at 9:30 a.m. in main parking lot. To go directly: take hwy 20 to 80 to Boreal Ridge exit. Turn left at stop sign and go over hwy 80 to camping area parking at the gate where the pavement ends. Walk 1/4 mile to Castle Pass meadow. Listen for Native American ceremony- approximately 11:00 a.m.

Ecology fair for children and their families. Exhibitors booth with activities for children, food, games,animals, presentations such as Smokey Bear, Rock-n-Horse Ranch miniature horses, children's Haute Trash fashion show, and 4-H club demonstrations. Watch for more details.
